GENERAL Santos City (Aug. 24) – Former world champion Randy “Razor” Petalcorin is now back training at the Sanman Gym here after being robbed of victory last April in Australia.

“The past few months was really hard for me,” said Petalcorin, who lost by a split decision to Omari Kimweri last April 15 in their battle for the vacant WBC Silver flyweight title held at the The Melbourne Pavilion in Flemington, Victoria.

“It was really frustrating. But I told myself that I have to move on and redeem myself. I will be world champion again,” said the 24-year old southpaw from Davao City.

His manager Jim Claude “JC” Manangquil said Petalcorin took a time off from boxing for almost four months after his controversial fight.

“I think he needed that especially from what happened in his last fight where he got robbed badly,” said Manangquil.

“Now he is hungry again. We are looking of putting him in a tune up fight here as soon as possible,” said Manangquil.

Petalcorin, who is co-managed by Australian promoter Peter Maniatis, might also see action in a regional championship in November in Australia.

Petalcorin won the interim WBA World light flyweight title via a 7th round technical knockout victory over Walter Tello on August 26, 2014 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China.

He retained his title via a first round TKO win against Chinese challenger Yi Ming Ma last April 24, 2015 at the Capital Gym in Beijing.

Petalcorin, also a former PABA and Philippine Boxing Federation flyweight champion, is now being trained by Dodong Desabille.
