The great unified super middleweight champion, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, will face Kazakh, Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin, in a long-awaited trilogy, on September 17 at the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Both fighters were face to face at the opening press conference at the Hollywood Legion Theater in Los Angeles.

Álvarez and Golovkin have gone through an exciting 24 rounds in fights that have been considered some of the best in recent times.

“I love boxing, I feel very motivated for this fight. Golovkin will not speak ill of me now, because I am here. He says that I am afraid, that I am hiding, when I am fighting with the best. I hope he think that this fight is personal like me.

“This fight took four years because I’m busy fighting the best and building my legacy. I want to do what’s best for my career.

“I don’t want to focus on my loss to Bivol. We, as a team, know what happened. Many things happened, but no excuse. I lost, and I accept defeat. My time and opportunity will come again, and things will be different.

“I think GGG will be surprised at how much I have improved; my stamina and strength will definitely surprise him,” Canelo commented.

For his part Golovkin said:
“For me it’s another fight, just another opponent. I’m still fighting, I’m still in the sport because I love boxing.

“If this fight is personal to him, then it is personal. In fights, you learn something about your opponent, and I think we’ve learned something about each other.

“For this fight, we will both possess the desire to come out with our hands up. I’m sure it will be
a great fight.”
