Figueroa vs. Castro: WBC Featherweight Eliminatory
WBC Press
Former world champion Brandon Figueroa will return to the ring against Carlos Castro, in an eliminatory fight in the featherweight division endorsed by the WBC, next Saturday, July 9 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
This fight will take place on the same card between Mark Magsayo and Rey Vargas, is promoted by Championship Boxing Promotions and will be broadcast on Showtime.
Figueroa comes into this bout after losing his WBC super-bantamweight title against Stephen Fulton by majority decision. He had a rematch in mind but decided to move up to the featherweight division.
“I am going to be much stronger and more explosive. If people were impressed with my conditioning at 122 pounds, imagine what it will be like at 126. Everyone will see a better version of myself,” said Figueroa.
Castro is a great boxer. He is patient and very technical. I know that he is going to come to fight with a lot to prove. I am sure we will give a great show.”
