3 Thrilling First-Round Knockouts From Our Heroes Competing In Yangon

The heroes of ONE Championship will be gunning for highlight-reel knockouts in Yangon, Myanmar on Friday, 29 June.

The promotion is scheduled to return to the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium for ONE: SPIRIT OF A WARRIOR, which will feature a trio of fearsome strikers who are known for delivering thrilling knockouts in a matter of seconds.

As the big night draws near, get ready for an evening of action by reliving these three spirited first-round knockouts from our warriors competing in Yangon.

Aung La N Sang’s History-Making Knockout

Over the course of his illustrious 13-year career, Aung La N Sang has repeatedly demonstrated an aptitude for knocking out his adversaries in a flash.

However, in front of his countrymen at ONE: QUEST FOR GOLD this past February, the ONE Middleweight World Champion used his exceptional talent to capture another belt, and set a promotional record.

“The Burmese Python” met Brazil’s Alexandre “Bebezão” Machado in the evening’s headlining bout, which was contested for the vacant ONE Light Heavyweight World Championship.

Shortly after the opening bell rang, Aung La N Sang put the Brazilian on the back foot and patiently lined him up. Then, seeing his opportunity, the local hero blasted his foe with a thunderous head kick.

The power of the enormous roundhouse caused Machado to stumble backwards, and “The Burmese Python” followed up with some final punches to seal the deal.

It took just 56 seconds for Aung La N Sang to claim his second ONE World Title, and earn the fastest stoppage victory in the light heavyweight division.

He returns to the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium on 29 June to defend the ONE Middleweight World Championship for the first time against Ken Hasegawa.

Sagetdao Petpayathai’s Crushing Knee

Multiple-time Muay Thai World Champion Sagetdao “Deadly Star” Petpayathai made a seamless transition to mixed martial arts last year.

The decorated Muay Thai practitioner flawlessly transitioned his world-class striking from the ring to the cage, and won all three of his 2017 bouts via knockout in the first round.

Most recently, at ONE: WARRIORS OF THE WORLD in Bangkok, Thailand in December, he showed the effectiveness of a perfectly-placed knee strike.

Following a brief clinch battle with Filipino striking specialist Jimmy “The Silencer” Yabo, Petpayathai stood toe-to-toe with his opponent and quickly proved to be superior in the stand-up.

The southpaw blasted Yabo’s body with a punch and a pair of thunderous roundhouse kicks, and then he launched a rocket-fueled knee directly at the liver. That blow immediately crumpled “The Silencer” to the canvas.

Petpayathai walked away just as the referee waved off the contest, awarding the Singapore-based Thai the victory at 2:44 of round one.

“Deadly Star” will look for another decisive win at ONE: SPIRIT OF A WARRIOR. This time, he meets Chinese national wrestling silver medalist Ma Jia Wen.

Jeremy Miado Stuns A Muay Thai Legend

After losing his first two matches in ONE Championship, Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado was given a chance to turn his luck around at ONE: IRON WILL in Bangkok this past March.

In order to do that, he had to defeat his idol, Bangkok’s own Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke.

That was quite the task. Not only was Amnuaysirichoke the Filipino’s personal hero, but he was also a three-time Lumpinee Stadium World Champion, and the inaugural ONE Strawweight World Champion.

Still, Miado courageously accepted the challenge, and he took full advantage of the opportunity before him.

From the moment the action began, it was clear “The Jaguar” was not afraid to stand with the former titleholder. He utilized his speed, long reach, and boxing instead of shooting for a takedown.

Though Amnuaysirichoke threatened with an array of dangerous kicks, Miado maintained his cool. Then, just 89 seconds into the bout, the Filipino threw a four-punch combination with the final strike of the sequence — a right hook — putting the legend to sleep.

Miado became the first person to knock out Amnuaysirichoke in mixed martial arts competition, and now owns the second-quickest KO in ONE Championship’s strawweight history.

He will attempt to build on the amazing feat when he meets 13-time Thai national wrestling championKritsada “Dream Man” Kongsrichai in Yangon.
