3RD GAB PH BOXING CONVENTION IN DAVAO MAY 11-13

THE Games and Amusements Board (GAB) is holding the third Philippine Boxing Convention (PBC) on May 11 to 13 in Davao City at the Marco Polo Hotel and Insular Waterfront Hotel.

GAB Chairman Abraham “Baham” Mitra said the seminars and general assembly will be held at the Marco Polo Hotel while the boxing event will be held at the Waterfront Hotel near the beach.

“We’re expecting more participants because the registration is free,” said Mitra.

Expected to join are the GAB-licensed boxing promoters, managers, matchmakers, referees, judges and trainers from all over the Philippines.

The boxing event, which will be handled by MP Davao and Sanman Promotions will be held on May 12 at 1 p.m.

Invited guest speakers are international referee Tony Weeks and international judge Hubert Minn.

Among the topics for referees are “The Unified Rules of Boxing”, “Ring mechanics for Referees”, “Discussing fouls”, “Referee’s Code of Conduct”, “How to handle tough fights” and “When to stop a fight”.

Judges will have a seminar-workshop where the officials can work in groups and discuss with each other the issue or score.

“It will be more on interaction,” said Mitra.

This year’s PBC will be an informative, exciting and fun-filled convention.

An ocular inspection was already made last week by the GAB led by Commissioner Fritz Gaston together with the GAB Davao staff headed by OIC Arlene Olondrez.
