Another exciting night for boxing fight fans and aficionados alike, asprofessional boxing match wentto Binan City, Laguna to join and celebrate their annual “Puto Latik” Festival. The boxing event titled “boksing sa Binan City kontra droga.” Was made possible by Olivetti boxing promotion, headed by promoter Myla Olivetti and in cooperation of Honorable Mayor Arman Dimaguilla, Vice Mayor Angel Alonte and Congresswoman Len Len Alonte.
All professional boxing match was sanctioned by The Games and Amusement board headed by Abraham Khalil B. Mitra
The professional boxing match started off with a four round match for the Super Feather weight division between Haizon Caba of the Olivetti boxing gym and Marlon Bacalando of the Empire boxing stable. As soon as the 1st round bell rang, Bacalando went in ramming thinking that he canoverpower his opponent but Caba maintained his composure and calmly box his way out.
As the 2nd round progress, Bacalando’sstrategy was not changed and is like a juggernaut destroying everything in its path but unfortunately his strong arm tactics did not work. He had tried throwing power punches but was not able to land a clean shot, Caba waited patientlyas the storm would pass by,and started his counter attackas soon as he saw an opening, throwing his own version of power punches,Bacalando found himselfhelpless in rope as Referee Elmo Coloma stepped in to stop the bout at 1:57.Caba won the bout via 2nd round TKO.
Second bout of the night is between Gerry Manago of Gono boxing stable and Bobby boy Ibabao of Doddieboy Agrabio stable. It is a match setfor 4 rounds in the Feather weight division, Ibabao started feeling out his opponent but did not take too long as hethrows his right cross sending his opponent down to the canvass but Gono was able to beat the count and survive the first round. As the second round starts, Ibabao went back where he left off, throwing punches in bunches, but as the round progress Gono started attacking Ibabao’sbody. Third round, Ibabao went back throwing Jabs. Out boxing his opponentall round long and in the last and final round Ibabao started finding his range, now out boxing and out classing his opponent, the fight ended in the hands of the judges.
Judge Elmo Coloma scored it as 40-35,Judge Virgilio Garcia scored it as 39-36 and Judge Ferddie Estrella scored it as 39-36. Winning via Unanimous decision is Bobby boy Ibabao.
Third bout of the eveningisbetween pugilist, Roy Lagarda of Gono boxing stable and Remon Basas of Olivetti boxing stable. Four rounds in the Bantam weight division. Basas waited no time and started throwing heavy punches catching his opponent’s chin Lagardawas not able to fully recover and halting the bout is referee Elmo Coloma at 1:31 in the very first round. Basas winning via TKO.
The Fourth fightis a rematch between Glenn Bismanos of Mandaluyong boxing team and Jino Rodrigo of Olivetti boxing stable. The last time that this two warriors saw each other was this February 2018 at Mandaluyong city, where Bismanos got the judges nod to win via Split Decision. It is for six rounds of boxing in the Light weight division.
It is a clash of style as the fight sets back and forth neither warrior wanted to give an inch of their territory, punches are thrown all night long, as people of Laguna witnessed an exciting seesaw battle. A clash of styles, Bismanos as the master boxer starting off with his jab and following it up with a straight and upper cut, while Rodrigo is slugger trying to sneak in and throwing left and right bombs to the body but as the fight went on neither boxer wanted to give up and at end of the fight judges scores the bout as follows; Elmer Lopez scores the bout 57 -57, Elmo Coloma scores it as 59 -55 for Rodrigo and Virgilio scores the bout 57 -57. The match ended as Majority draw.
Eight rounds of boxing, Taday was in control most of the time out punching the boxer from Albay, Joel Taduran. As the fight went to score card. Judges scored the bout; ElmerLopez 78 -74; Elmo Coloma 78-74 and Ferddie Estrella 78-75. Tadaywon the bout via unanimous decision.
The Main Event: Philippine Light-Fly weight championship
A highly anticipated fight between Current Philippine Light fly-weight Lester Abutan and Jesse Espinas the former WBO Oriental Light Fly-weight champion and WBC no. 6 world contender. Espinas dominated most of the fight by beating Abutan to the punch. The scores was read as follows Elmer Lopez 116-112, Al Llaneta 115 -113 and Virgilio Garcia scores it 117-111 all for Unanimous decision for Jesse Espinas.
