Former world champion Cristian ‘Diamante’ Mijares (55-8-2, 26 KOs) had to use all his experience to edge previously unbeaten Shohei Kawashima (14-1-2, 3 KOs) on Saturday night at the Palenque Vicente Fernandez in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico. Mijares prevailed 115-113 on all three cards Mijares retained his WBC Silver featherweight belt.
In the co-feature, former WBO and IBF world champion Francisco “Chihuas” Rodriguez (20-4-1, 13 KOs) scored a fifth round TKO over Crison Omayao (20-13-3, 7KOs) in a flyweight clash. Rodriguez scored three knockdowns.
Former WBA world champion Irma ‘Terremoto’ Garcia (16-1-1, 3 KOs) KO’d Leticia Uribe (4-8, 0 KOs) in round eight round
Welterweight Ivan Alvarez (24-7, 16 KOs) defeated former world title challenger Javier Prieto (27-10-2, 20 KOs) by unanimous decision over eight rounds. Scores were 79-75, 79-73 and 79-75.
