Two more fights have been added to the Bellator London card on Jun. 22 as K-1 legend Melvin Manhoef takes on British middleweight Kent Kauppinen and Irish lightweight Peter Queally takes on former BAMMA double champ Terry Brazier.
Bellator announced the Manhoef vs. Kauppinen clash through its social media feeds in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The Irish Sun was first to report the Queally vs. Brazier bout.
Manhoef (30-14-1) is a legendary striker who has not contested an MMA bout since April 2017—a fourth round head kick loss to former middleweight champion Rafael Carvalho in their Bellator 176 title clash. The loss was his second in a row at the hands of the Brazilian after he claimed a split decision over the Dutch veteran at Bellator 155.
“No Mercy” has claimed many notable scalps during his 24-year career including Mark Hunt, Kazushi Sakuraba and Evangelista Santos.
Kauppinen (11-4-0) is coming off his stunning first-round knockout of Alessio Sakara. The Brit went into the contest on the back of a two-fight skid and dispatched the Italian in a little over a minute in front of his adoring home crowd. The knockout win led to the Englishman being signed to a multii-fight deal with Bellator.
Queally (11-5-1) is coming off a split-decision loss to Myles Price at Bellator 217 in Dublin, Ireland. The SBG lightweight was considered to be one of Bellator’s biggest signings as part of their European Series acquisitions. Before signing with the promotion, “The Showstopper” was on the verge of competing for the Fight Nights Global title.
Brazier (10-2-0) was another highly considered fighter before signing with BAMMA on the back of his double title winning feats with BAMMA. Both a lightweight and welterweight champion with the organization, Brazier suffered a quick defeat in his Bellator debut in Newcastle to fellow debutant Chris Bungard.
