The LeBron James-produced “40 Days” series for DAZN has premiered, and if you were/are a fan of HBO’s old “24/7” series or Showtime’s “All Access,” well, it’s basically exactly like those, so you should enjoy this, too.
Bobby Cannavale narrates, and the first episode is called “Roots,” telling the stories of where Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs come from, and taking a look behind the scenes at the early press events for their May 4 fight on DAZN.
The build-up for this fight has been very respectful between the two 160-pound titleholders, but Jacobs says that won’t be the same story come fight night.
“Canelo has been a gentleman,” Jacobs says. “This is the type of opponent I like to face, but it always exists in me, wanting to hurt Canelo. I wanna whoop his ass, plain and simple. I wanna embarrass him, I wanna hurt him, I wanna go inside that ring and prove that I’m the best. This is what we do.
“Because I show respect and I smile, and I’m truly who I am, which is a gentleman, doesn’t mean that my job is to go in there and act the same as I act outside the ring. My job is to go in there and do as much damage as I can.”
As for Alvarez, he believes this is a truly big fight.
“I think it’s a fight that will go down in history because of our fighting styles. The two best middleweights in the world,” Canelo says.
