At Friday’s UFC 237 weigh-ins, Bethe Correia registered five pounds over the bantamweight allowance at 141 pounds for her clash with Irene Aldana.
The Brazilian cut a dejected figure as her weight was read allowed to the gathered media in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Correia (10-3-1) has never missed weight during her eight-fight run with the UFC thus far. The Brazilian has not competed since her June 2017 meeting with Holly Holm, in which she suffered a third-round knockout loss. “Pitbull” was initially booked to face Aldana at UFC 227 in August of last year, but she was not medically cleared to compete on the night after the California State Athletic Commission discovered an issue with her left eye.
Per CABMMA, Correia will be fined 30 percent of her purse, which will be forfeited to Aldana. The fight will go ahead.
