The final press conference took place for Saturday’s European light heavyweight title clash between reigning champion Mehdi Amar and two-time world super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz at the GETEC Arena in Magdeburg, Germany.
Mehdi Amar: “I don’t care where the ring is – in Paris, Berlin, Marseille or Magdeburg. In the ring, I always have a home game. It’s my living room when I climb in the ring. I’m here to win, just like Robert. I’m ready to go 12 rounds at full throttle in order to win. My fight motto is ‘victory or death!’”
Robert Stieglitz: “Amar can bring everything in the ring, but he has no special or particular strengths. His balance of skills make him strong. The City of Magdeburg is behind me – you can feel it! The mood in the “Lion’s Den,” GETEC Arena, is great. My anticipation is huge. In addition, I’m already on-weight, without any hassles. I’m not finished with boxing. No problems sparring. Some great boxers have had the European title, I want to belong to this group, so, I’ll get the European belt to Magdeburg and back in Germany. It belongs here.”
< strong>SES promoter Ulf Steinforth: “Robert Stieglitz remains the flagship of SES. He has fundamentally influenced professional boxing the last ten years. The European Championship is one of the most prestigious and most traditional title in professional boxing and Max Schmeling was one of the first German European champions at light heavyweight. Robert has never boxed for this title, so he’s missing it in his collection!”
