Japanese Ryota Murata (15-2, 12 KO’s) impressively regained his WBA Middleweight “Regular” World Title by stopping in two rounds nemesis Rob Brant (25-2, 17 KO’s) tonight Friday night, July 12, at the EDION Arena in Osaka, Japan.
From the getgo, an aggressive Murata came out swinging hard straight rights and left hooks, landing repeatedly over Brant, who was overwhelmed with the rough leather dished out by the more confident, strong Japanese.
The end unfolded during round two when Puerto RIcan referee Luis Pabon intervened to halt actions as Brant was already pinned against the ropes absorbing excessive punishment.
With the thrilling win, Murata successfully avenged his defeat to Brant in October of last year in Las Vegas, and the Japanese former 2012 Olympic gold medalist is ready for more challenges. The fight was broadcast live in Japan on Fuji TV and around the world on ESPN.
Top Rank’s boss Bob Arum and WBA president Gilberto Mendoza where quick on top of the ring to congratulate the newly crowned Japanese world champion.
