DAVAO CITY — The Games and Amusements Board (GAB) is also now questioning the Ghana boxing promoter and match maker for not pushing through with the Filipino boxer and his two companion last Aug 9.

The GAB represented by its Chairman Abrahan Kahlil Mitra is asking why is that the Ghana matchmaker Solomon Otoo and boxing promoter Michael N.Y. Annan of Don’s Promotion postponed the fight through its International Boxing Organization

The letter of GAB to IBO

President Ed Levine.

Featherweight Eugene “Rambo” Lagos (16-5-3, 11KO) and his two companions were already in Manila on Aug. 7 after a two-hour trip from Cagayan de Oro City when only to end up with an advice that the fight was already postponed. Apparently the fight push through with a different opponent.

“Allegedly, promoter Mr. Annan, through Mr. Solomon, advised that they are going to refund the ticket and send money to defray all the travel costs, excluding training expenses and all other expenses incurred in preparation for the aforementioned fight,” said Mitra.

“However, it has been a week now, but there has been no compliance with the agreement to settle their obligations as promised by Mr. Annan and Mr. Solomon earlier” said Mitra.

“Hence, we are constrained to request for an investigation by the IBO of the possible irregularities and alleged misconduct of the above-mentioned promoter and matchmaker which have caused inconvenience and demoralized our Filipino boxer, in furtherance of our mutual goal of protecting the integrity of the sport that we all love,” said Mitra.

GAB is now waiting for the response of IBO to the e-mail-inquiry made by manager-promoter Brico Santig who is helping Lagos and Kaamino.

GAB will continue to strengthen its linkages with its international counterparts and other international boxing organizations not only for the safety but also for the welfare of its professional Filipino boxers.
