An exciting bantamweight fight is in the works for UFC Columbus in March, as Eddie Wineland is scheduled to take on Marlon Vera.
ESPN were the first report to the fight on Friday. It’s another exciting fight at 135-pounds which will take place on the UFC on ESPN 8 card, along with the likes of Raphael Assuncao vs. Cody Garbrandt and Louis Smolka vs. Davey Grant.
Wineland (24-13-1) has only fought three times in the last three years in the UFC. The 35-year-old picked up a TKO win against Grigory Popov at UFC 238 last June, that was Wineland’s only win since 2016. Before that he suffered consecutive decision losses to Alejandro Pérez and John Dodson.
The UFC veteran Vera (15-5-1) is undefeated in his last five fights at bantamweight, all his wins have been finishes. His most recent win was a third round TKO against Andre Ewell in October of last year. Despite his last two losses coming in 2017, Vera’s recent winning streak has him ranked at only fourteenth in the UFC bantamweight rankings.
UFC Columbus takes place on March 28th at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. A heavyweight fight between Francis Ngannou and Jairzinho Rozenstruik will headline the card.
