ALA Boxing composed of ALA Promotion and ALA Gym and headed by its president Michael Aldeguer is folding up after 35 years to their supporters from all over the world.
In a released official statement:
“After 35 years, ALA BOXING [ALA Promotions and ALA Gym] would like to say Farewell and Thank you to our supporters from all over the World.
The Pandemic and the closure of our long time Broadcast Network partner ABS-CBN, has affected the over-all situation and future of the company.
All our fighters will be released so they can look for greener pastures for their respective careers.
ALA Boxing would not be where it is today without the tremendous support of Boxers, Trainers, Office staff, Fans, the Media, the Boxing Organizations, and our sponsors all these years.”
ALA Boxing started by forming amateur boxing teams and the grassroots developmental program in the 80s. It also started with the jampacked crowd of Edito “ALA” Villamor, Gerry Penalosa, and the ALA Boys with the famous Black Trunks in the 90s.
Among the other achievements made by the ALA Boxing were the fabled Pinoy Pride Series; the partnership with Golden Boy Promotions; the only promotional company from the Philippines to have ever staged boxing events in Dubai and the US; and producing one of the best Filipino fighter Donnie “Ahas” Nietes.
