In a very fruitful year for female boxing in the world, on Saturday night a new 108-pound female World Boxing Association world champion was crowned.

In the city of Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico, boxer Guadalupe “La Licenciada” Bautista (17-12-2, 3 KOs) won by unanimous decision after a ten-round fight against Nora Cardoza (15-8-2, 7 KOs).

In a competitive fight, La Licenciada managed to dominate almost every round with her characteristic frontal and aggressive boxing, which has earned her other world crowns on previous occasions.

She is a true warrior who has given her all to improve herself since she first entered the gym. One of the characteristics that define her, as expressed by her trainer Juan Colmeneros Ríos, is the desire to improve, not missing a day of training, or having finished it and staying at the gym to watch the work of others and continue learning.

For this fight, she intensified her preparation for two months: “I always like to do my preparations by running 10-kilometer climbs a day, I do 30 minutes of springs and I have boxed more than 200 rounds in sparring sessions”.

“This title is a new opportunity for me to reign in the mini flyweight division. And although it is the division in which I won my first world belt, I have also fought in flyweight giving advantage, since after the weigh-in I do not gain many kilograms. So I want to thank the WBA for this opportunity to fulfill one more dream in my career”, said Guadalupe Bautista, who has had great battles with rivals such as Silvia Torres, Lourdes Juárez, Monserrat Alarcón, Evelyn Bermúdez, Ibeth Zamora, Jessica Nery Plata or Esmeralda Moreno.

In a very competitive division, Guadalupe Bautista is among the greats by winning the World Boxing Association World Miniflyweight title.
