DAVAO CITY – Super bantamweight Mike “Magic” Plania (25W-1L-0D, 12KOs) of Gen. Santos City has finally found an opponent against Jonathan Lecona “Zurdo” Ramos (18W-31L-5D, 6KOs) of Mexico on Aug. 20 at the Airport Hilton in Miami.
“I’m focused on this fight. I don’t have to take it for granted,” said the 24-year-old Plania, who is managed both by Osmiri Fernandez of Miami and Jim Claude Mananguil of Gensan.
Plania recently scored a unanimous decision against Emmanuel Mogawa last April 30 at Sanman Gym in Gensan.
The 35-year-old Ramos, on the other hand, recently lost to Emanuel Rivera Nieves by a unanimous decision last July 16, 2021, in Atlanta. Ramos also lost two earlier two fights already in 2021.
He was destroyed physically by Jayvon Garnett last Feb. 20 in Miami before he was knocked out by Donald Smith in the 1st round last May 8 in Philadelphia.
Ramos tasted his last win against Armando Frausto by a split decision at Humble Civic Center in Humble last November 2018.
Laura Ching of M & R Boxing Promotions is the promoter while Melvin Rivas is the matchmaker.
