Unbeaten 6′ 5½″ Super Welterweight “The Towering Inferno” Sebastian Fundora (18-0-1, 12 KO’s) from Coachella, California, has won the WBC 154-pound World Title Eliminator with his 12-round unanimous decision victory over game, coming-forward Spaniard Oscar Garcia (33-1, 14 KO’s) of Torrelavega, Cantabria, España, tonight, Saturday Dec 5, at the Staples Center in Los Angelas, live on Showtime PPV.
The well-deserved triumph hands the ever-smiling Fundora the golden ticket to challenge the winner of the Coming war between WBC champion Jermell Charlo (31-1-1, 18 KO’s versus tough Argentinian WBO titlist Brian Carlos Castaño (17-0-2, 12 KO’s), a much-awaited rematch set to unfold this coming February.
As fans remember, Charlo and Castaño fought to a draw last July in San Antonio.
So will the 23-year-old Sebastian Fundora – promoted by Sampson Leekowickz – go on to challenge Jermell Charlo or Brian Castaño? That we’ll find out.
Fundora vs Garcia was the co-feature for the Gervonta “Tank” Davis vs “Pitbull” Diaz showdowin for the WBA Lightweight (Regular) World Title.
