Cuban heavyweight Luis “King Kong” Ortiz will face former world champion “Prince” Charles Martin, in the stellar fight of a card that will take on New Year’s day at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino – Hollywood, FL.

The fight is organized by Premier Boxing Champions, and will be televised on the FOX network.

This Friday, the official weigh-in of this card was carried out, which will start the great boxing events in 2022.

On his appointment with the scale, “King Kong” Ortiz scored 243.4 pounds, while Martin stopped the pendulum in 246.2, for this duel agreed to 12 rounds, in the heaviest division in boxing.

For Ortiz, this Saturday’s fight will be his first since Nov of 2020 when he defeated Alexander Flores by knockout in just the first round. It was a quick result for the Cuban, who brought out his punching power.

In their previous fight, in November 2019, Ortiz was knocked out in seven rounds by now former champ Deontay Wilder.

So this Saturday’s battle will be only the second one that the Cuban Ortiz makes in the the last 25 months. King Kong’s record is 32-2, with 27 knockouts.

In Martin’s case, he was a short-lived World Champion as he won the vacant IBF heavyweight title in January 2016, when he knocked out Vyacheslav Glazkov in three rounds.

But in the next fight he was knocked out in just 2 rounds by Englishman Anthony Joshua, to lose the championship.

Martin is 28-2-1 with 25 knockouts. In the past 5 years, he has only fought half a dozen times, with five wins, against only one setback in his run.
