Super Famous YouTuber Jake Paul, with just 5 pro fights and zero amateur experience, is already one of the highest-paid boxers in the world, racking up an estimated $40 million, according to Forbes, an amount of money that he made from his 3 fights last year.
Now, once again, the eyes of the boxing world are on Jake, since it is rumored that he might be the next opponent of the super popular undisputed champion Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, in a duel that would generate enormous expectations, accompanied by hundreds of millions of dollars.
Of course, the issue of who will be Canelo’s next rival continues to heat up the networks and social media.
There is increase curiosity, despite the fact that his coach/manager Eddy Reynoso came forward with a Twitter message to say that there is no opponent yet.
But, at first, it was Reynoso himself the one who announced last November that they were looking to move up to cruiserweight to challenge WBC world champion Ilunga Junior Makabu.
That fight does not seem to be happening next.
Then, just last week, it was heavily rumored that there were serious talks for Canelo to defend his undisputed 168-pound world title against undefeated WBC middleweight world champion Jermall Charlo. Also tsismis. That one is not happening either.
“Regarding #Canelo’s next fight, there is no negotiation with any promoter, rival, nor date. Next week we will have something concrete,” Reynoso said on his Twitter account last January 10.
But now new puzzles and conspiracy theories are emerging from fans, fueled by a statement from Mexican journalist Salvador “Chava” Rodríguez of ESPN.
According to Rodríguez, Canelo’s next opponent could be “one that many boxing purists are not going to like.”
Multiple opinions pointed to Jake Paul as the natural choice, which “the purists might not like.”
Because, quite simply, Jake Paul could be the rival that could generate the biggest amount of millions and more millions for the Mexican superstar.
On top of that, Jake Paul himself added three cold faces to @MichaelBensonn’s original tweet that included Rodriguez’s statement and sparked the rumor mill.
Will Canelo really be interested in fighting Jake Paul?
If you are Canelo, would you battle Jake?
