Jose Carlos Ramirez, an American of Mexican descent, will return to the ring against Jose Pedraza on March 4 at the Save Mart Arena in Fresno, California.

Ramirez has been on a long layoff since his loss to undisputed super lightweight champion Josh Taylor on May 22.

However, he has been working hard with his sights set on coming back and making up for lost ground. He is a young fighter who remains one of the top fighters in the 140-pound division, which is why the public is waiting for his return.

“The loss to Taylor made me learn a lot. It was the first of my career, and it brought back my hunger for boxing again. I’ve really enjoyed this training camp getting ready to get back on the winning track,” the 29-year-old fighter told Noticias 724.

The “Jaguar” also wants to become world champion again and he doesn’t care which way he does it: “I’m ready to get back to the top of the division. I know I’m one of the best fighters at 140 pounds, and what I’m looking for is to regain the titles I already had, and conquer the others I was very close to having. What I want is to be crowned world champion again. It doesn’t matter if it’s in a rematch against Taylor, challenging another champion, or in a vacant title fight against another contender in the division. I want my titles back.”

He also talked about his next opponent, Puerto Rican Pedraza, who has experience and won’t be easy.

“Jose Pedraza is a tough test. He is a very good fighter and has looked good since he moved to 140 pounds. It’s a risk to face him and even more so after a loss, but I’m here for this. I’m here to face the best. I want to regain the position to challenge for world titles one more time, and this is the way to do it,” concluded Ramirez, who has a record of 26 wins, 1 loss and 17 knockouts.
