Filipino warriors Norj Guro of Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, and “The Silent Assassin” Miel Fajardo of San Francisco, Agusan del Norte, claimed impressive victories Saturday, March 26, in Dubai, United Araba Emirates, fantastically advancing their fighting careers.
Brave Pinay southpaw Norj Guro (12-7-1) defeated British warrior lady Denise Castle of Bournemouth, Dorset, via eight-round split decision to conquer the vacant WBC Atomweight Silver Title at the plush Habtoor Grand Hotel in Dubai.
Scores were 77-76 for Castle, and 77 -75, 78-74 for The New WBC Atomweight Silver Champion Norj Guro.
The riveting, hard-fought victory was a BIG BANG return to action for the shy Norj Guro after a 4-year absence from the ring.
Thats why not many fans in Dubai thought that she could emerge victorious, but indeed she did it, scoring great, making coach, family and friends so proud.
The Filipina warrior was guided in Dubai by veteran Cebu coach Brix Flores of Mandaue City, who happily smiled after the win.
Norj Guro’s victory was a promotion of active Filipino man of boxing Brico Santig, head of the Highland Boxing Team, in association with Dubai’s Vic MMA Gyms.
“The fight between Norj vs Denise was a nerve-wrecking, toe-to-toe fight. Either fighter could have been the winner and fans loved the action,” said promoter Brico Langbay Santig
“I am planning a rematch,” Brico shared.
THE SILENT ASSASSIN MIEL FAJARDO RAVAGED WORLD-RANKED ARGENTINIAN!
At about the same time of Guro’s win, but in another venue in Dubai, another Pinoy boxer claimed victory in exciting fashion.
Yes indeed. “The Silent Assassin” Miel Fajardo scored another thrilling knockout win.
Hard-hitting Filipino 108-pounder Miel Fajardo “The Silent Assassin” (8-1-2, 7 KO’s) of San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, did not waste any time in stalking and punishing undefeated, dangerous world-ranked Argentinian warrior Agustin Gauto (17-1, 12 KO’s), rocking him 3 times to the canvas, once in the opening stanza and then again in the next chapter en route to a fast & furious round 2 stoppage win at Dubai’s Duty-Free Tennis Stadium.
The scheduled 8 rounder no way made the distance as Miel Fajardo’s power, accuracy and determination propelled him to a stunning victory over the favorite Argentinian rising-star managed by none other than former champ Marcos “Chino” Maidana.
Since Agustin Gauto of Buenos Aires has been ranked as # 6 by the WBA and # 3 by the WBO, it is highly likely that the victorious 22-year-old Pinoy slugger might take his place in the world rankings of those organizations. That’s not 100% sure, but hopefully so.
These were outstanding performances from “The Silent Assassin” Miel Fajardo, and from Norj Guro Saturday in Dubai, triumphs that hugely advance their pro boxing careers. Congratulations!
