Get the details here on the next two shows for Glory, as they kick off 2017 with a trio of title fights.
Kickboxing eyes were on Glory this past weekend, with the huge Glory 36 / Glory Collision event headlined by Rico Verhoeven vs. Badr Hari. Now, that show is behind us, and Glory has wrapped up their 2016. Here’s a look ahead at the two announced shows so far for 2017 and what we can expect.
Up first will be Glory 37 Los Angeles on January 20. Two terrific title fights and two first time title defenses anchor that card, with Jason Wilnis defending his Middleweight title against Israel Adesanya and Robin van Roosmalen defending the Featherweight crown against Matt Embree. Both are excellent fights with high level world champions taking on dynamic and dangerous opponents. Also on the card is a Welterweight tournament, and fights from Giga Chikadze and Guto Inocente among others.
After that, it’s Glory 38 Chicago on February 24. During Glory 36, two fights were announced for Chicago – headlining the show will be a Light Heavyweight title clash between Saulo Cavalari and Artem Vakhitov. That’s a rubber match between the two, and should be a war. And Chopper Chi-Lewis Parry welcomes Superkombat veteran Catalin Morosanu to Glory in a guaranteed slugfest. Fight cards for both shows are below.
Other fights anticipated for Glory in 2017 but not yet announced include a Rico Verhoeven vs. Badr Hari rematch, and likely title shots for 2016 tournament winners Ismael Londt, Benjamin Adegbuyi, Dylan Salvador, and Zinedine Hameur-Lain. Plus, former Glory Light Heavyweight champion Gokhan Saki is talking about a return and a quest to become Glory Heavyweight champion (and yes, that does mean there are 4 different opponents already lining up for Verhoeven). Stay tuned to Bloody Elbow for more Glory coverage.
