The 2017 World MMA Awards (done by Fighters Only) are less than two months away, and we are pleased to announce that Bloody Elbow is represented in multiple categories! I know what you’re thinking, but Tim Burke was not a nominee for “Most Attractive Canadian MMA Writer Over the Age of 100,” so let’s put those disturbing rumors to rest. We were hoping Anton Tabuena could get Muay Thai Writer of the Year, but evidently that’s not a category. We’ll work hard to make sure that’s a real thing in 2018.
First up, Bloody Elbow is up for MMA Media Source of the Year, joined by MMA Fighting, MMAjunkie, Sherdog, and FloCombat. Secondly, our own Karim Zidan is in the running for 2016 MMA Journalist of the Year, and it’s richly deserved. His competition for this award is Ariel Helwani, Shaun Al-Shatti, Brett Okamoto, and Ben Fowlkes. Literally 60% of those journalists are under the SB Nation umbrella, so that’s pretty cool, but you know what would be cooler? Seeing Karim win the whole thing.
Here’s where this wonderful community comes in. You can do your part and help send us to victory by voting for BE and Karim at the link below. There are no write-ins allowed, so Meryl Streep can’t swoop in and win any trophies here (get it? Topical humor!). The World MMA Awards will be held in Las Vegas on March 2nd, so get your voting in soon!
