Cecilia Braekhus aims to make a successful defense of her crown on January 28 in “The Spectrum” Oslo, Norway.

Born in the city of Cartagena, Colombia, and brought up in Norway, Cecilia Braekhus who has a record of 29-0, 8 KO’S is the undefeated WBC welterweight female champion. Her mandatory rival and WBC interim 147-pound champion, Swedish Klara Svensson has a record of 17 wins, 1 loss and 5 KO’S.

The multiple champion comes from two successfully defenses, with a victory against Chris Namus in February, and against Frenchwoman Anne Sophie Matis with a second round KO, in a rematch of their fight of September 9th, 2012.

This particular bout was historic, since boxing was banned in Norway for more than 30 years until that date in which the champion notched another triumph, in brilliant style.

Svensson defeated her compatriot, the experienced Mikaela Lauren, winning the interim WBC title, in a very tough battle last September 10th. An extra ingredient of this bout is the keen sporting rivalry between Sweden and Norway.
