WBC Women’s World Superwelterweight Champion Ewa Piatkowska has been ordered to defend her title against Champion Emeritus Mikaela Lauren next.
Unfortunately, the promoters have informed the WBC Women’s Championship Committee that they couldn’t reach an agreement in the free negotiation period. Therefore, there will be a purse bid for the fight held this Friday (February 3rd, 2017) at 12:00h (noon) local time at the WBC Women’s Championship office in Hamburg, Germany.
Lauren had won the vacant World Superwelterweight Championship in November 2014. After three successful defenses “The Nordic Queen” decided to move down in weight in September 2016 to face “The Swedish Princess” Klara Svensson for the interim Welterweight Championship.
Because she hadn’t lost the Superwelterweight title in the ring but also couldn’t defend it due to the weight change, Lauren was declared Champion Emeritus at 154 lbs. while Piatkowska won the vacant World Championship by unanimous decision over Aleksandra Magdziak Lopes.
