Colombian prospect Oscar “Jaguar” Negrete (15-0, 5 KOs) of Los Angeles by way of Tierra Alta, Columbia won a unanimous decision over Jose “Flash” Bustos (11-7-3, 7 KOs)of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, Friday night at the Belasco Theater in downtown Los Angeles headlining the LA Fight Club Boxeo Estelar on Estrella TV. Negrete came out on the attack in the opening round getting inside on Bustos. In round two Negrete connected with the overhand right, Bustos kept his distance as Negrete pressed. Stepping it up in round three Negrete attacked as he pressed Bustos the entire round, landing the overhand right once again. Bustos tagged Negrete with a straight right in round four but the Colombian continued to press as he was cut on top of the head. The bleeding continued in round five as Negrete was cut above the left eye trickling blood as Bustos pressed.

Negrete came out aggressive in round six despite the cut as he outworked Bustos landing the right. The overhand right found its mark again as Negrete connected solidly on Bustos in round seven as the Colombian cruised through the round. Bustos had his best round as he connected Negrete with a right hand in round eight staggering him to the ropes, the Mexican chased as Negrete spit out his mouthpiece. Negrete worked patiently in round nine sticking the jab following up with the right as he connected Bustos flush. The tenth and final round Negrete began by showboating as he boxed and outworked the tough Bustos in route to a hard fought decision.

Judges scored the bout 100-90, 99-91, and 99-91.

Pacoima, California’s undefeated super bantamweight Emilio Sanchez (13-0, 9 KOs) and Hugo Partida (20- 8-2, 15 KOs) went the distance in an action packed eight round bout. Sanchez was accurate in the opening round, keeping his distance as Partida was on the receiving end. Exchanging inside in round two, Sanchez connected with some vicious hooks as Partida came forward. In round three Sanchez staggered Partida backing him to the ropes. Partida pressed forward as Sanchez boxed away popping the jab.

A right uppercut by Sanchez in round five landed flush as he backed Partida to the ropes, Sanchez continued to attack Partida who held his own, finishing the round strong. Continuing to connect with the uppercut Sanchez attacked Partida in round six as Partida spit out his mouthpiece out for a third time. Sanchez worked effectively on the inside. Round seven saw Partida take Sanchez to deep water as he pressed the young prospect. The eighth and final round was non stop all toe to toe action as Sanchez and Partida fought on to the final bell.

Judges scored the bout 79-72, 78-73, and 78-73.

Super middleweight Niko Valdez (2-0, 2 KOs) of Miami scored a fourth round stoppage over Michael Andrews (0-2) in a scheduled four round bout opening up the Estrella TV telecast. A series of straight lefts by the southpaw Valdes staggered Andrews in the opening round. Valdes picked Andrews apart in round two but Andrews continued to go forward. In round three Valdes stuck the jab as he kept a bloodied Andrews away. The fourth round began but the referee took Andrews to the ring physician as Andrews could not continue. Referee waived the bout 1 second into the fourth round.
