Jamel Herring and Denis Shafikov meet in tonight’s PBC on ESPN main event.
Premier Boxing Champions returns to ESPN tonight at 9 p.m. ET with a doubleheader, featuring lightweight prospect Jamel Herring taking a big step up against contender Denis Shafikov in the 10-round main event.
Herring (15-0, 8 KO) was the captain of the U.S. men’s boxing team at London 2012, and turned pro after those Olympics. So far, he’s done very well, but at 30, the former Marine doesn’t have the youth many of his teammates have, and his rise up the ranks probably needs to come sooner than later.
Shafikov (36-2-1, 19 KO) is a former two-time title challenger, losing fights to Miguel Vazquez in 2014 and Rances Barthelemy last year. He remains a contender in the division, and Herring is looking to beat him to become one.
In the co-feature, Polish middleweight prospect Patryk Szymanski (15-0, 9 KO) will take on Wilky Campfort (21-2, 12 KO) in another 10-round fight.
We’ll be here with live coverage for both bouts, so join us this evening.
