UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will officially defend her title for the fifth time at UFC 211. The champ was a guest on Foxsports.com’s PROcast app and announced the bout with Jessica Andrade there:
Jedrzejczyk (11-0, 7-0 UFC) won the title back in 2015 by defeating Carla Esparza, and has rolled through all of her challengers since then. Her most recent defense came against Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC 205 in November, where she won by unanimous decision.
Andrade (16-5, 7-3 UFC) is 3-0 at 115 pounds, and soundly defeated Angela Hill (in a great fight) at UFC Fight Night 104 earlier this month to earn her title shot. She also holds strawweight wins over Joanne Calderwood and Jessica Penne.
UFC 211 goes down May 13th in Dallas, TX, with a heavyweight title fight between champ Stipe Miocic and former champ Junior dos Santos as the headliner. The bout between Jedrzejczyk and Andrade will likely serve as the co-main event.
