MANILA, Philippines — Jenel “The Demolition Man” Lausa has captured the interim Philippines Boxing Federation (PBF) Super Bantamweight title via a split decision victory over Jon Jon Estrada last Saturday night at the Makati Cinema Square Boxing Arena in Makati City.
Judges Sammy Bernabe (95-94) and Danny Lopez (96-93) both gave it to Lausa while Jerrold Tomeldan (95-94) saw it for Estrada.
“It was a very close fight,” said referee Virgilio Garcia.
It was a toe-to-toe fight with Estrada putting pressure against Lausa.
Estrada, however, was deducted with one point for grabbing and taking down intentionally Lausa in the 5th round.
The 27-year old Lausa has remained undefeated with eight straight wins and four knockouts while Estrada, 27, dropped to 8-3-1-7KOs.
In the main supporting bout, flyweight Edward Heno won by a majority decision over JC Francisco in an 8-rounder fight.
Judges Danny Lopez and Tomeldan both scored 79-73 for Heno while Garcia saw it even at 76-all.
