ORIENT Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) no. 9 super bantamweight contender Markquil “Gunz” Salvana of General Santos City is calling out current WBA Oceania bantamweight champion Andrew Maloney of Australia for his next possible fight
“I feel that Andrew and I are the same size. And I feel that I could beat him,” said Salvana, who earlier fought but lost to Andrew’s twin brother Jason by retirement in the 5th round in their battle for the vacant WBA Oceania super bantamweight crown held December 18 at the Town Hall in Malvern, Victoria, Australia.
It was only Salvana’s first loss against 11 wins with 5 knockouts.
“Jason was just too big for me,” said Salvana, also ranked Philippine no. 8 super bantamweight contender.
Andrew, however, already has a tentative scheduled fight on August 3 in Melbourne, Australia against Danny Green.
The 25-year old Andrew is still undefeated with eight straight wins and four knockouts while his brother Jason is also unbeaten with 8 wins all by stoppages.
Salvana’s young manager Jim Claude “JC” Manangquil, chief executive officer of the Sanman Promotions, said that he respects the Moloney twins.
“Both of them are very talented and will soon be world champions,” said Manangquil.
“But Markquil is ready and in shape. And I feel he has a big chance of beating Andrew,” he said.
Manangquil said that “it will be a great pleasure fighting under the great Danny “Green Machine” Green.”
“They (Team Andrew Moloney) has my contact number and they could reach me anytime of the day,” bared Manangquil.
In his last fight, the 19-year old Salvana previously won a first round TKO win over Lowell Saguisa last April 30 in Makati City.
