The fight will take place at the Forum in Inglewood, California.

Roman Gonzalez has already won titles in three weight classes, leaving some of the best lower-weight fighters alive in twitching heaps along the way. He looks to make it four this September as he moves up to 115 pounds to face Carlos Cuadras, the reigning WBC champion and one of the two best in the division alongside Naoya Inoue.

Gonzalez (45-0, 38 KO), a staple of virtually every pound-for-pound list around, thrashed Akira Yaegashi in 2014 to earn the WBC flyweight title and has since defended it four times. A test run at super flyweight after his first defense saw him wreck non-entity Valentin Leon, after which he successively dominated Edgar Sosa, Brian Viloria, and McWilliams Arroyo.

Cuadras (35-0-1, 27) is about as far from Leon as you can get, a legitimately elite 115-pounder with a WBC title and six defenses to his credit. He fought thrice in 2015 and forced Richie Mepranum to quit after eight in their April 2016 tussle.

This is pretty much the best fight one could make with Gonzalez outside of Juan Francisco Estrada and the aforementioned Inoue. Take notes, Canelo.
