Ronaldo Souza will be on the sidelines for a while, following his TKO loss to Robert Whittaker, on April 15. As Combate reported, the 37-year old will undergo surgery on a chest tendon that was partially torn during the fight. The recovery time, according to his doctor, will take somewhere between four and six months.
Before the loss, Jacare was on a two-fight winning streak, with a submission win over Tim Boetsch and a TKO win over Vitor Belfort. His other UFC loss was a split decision loss to Yoel Romero, back in December 2015.
Souza also holds wins over other notable names such as Gegard Mousasi, Yushin Okamiand Derek Brunson. Although Jacare felt he already deserved a title shot when he won 7 of his 8 UFC bouts, he will much likely now take a backseat following his upset loss to Whittaker, and the subsequent injury he sustained.
