Boxing champions, Mikey Garcia and Crystal Morales went to the Val Verde High School, in Perris, California, to join school counselors in motivating students on state testing and graduation.
Mikey Garcia is a three-weight world boxing champion with a 36-0 record who has held the WBC Lightweight title since January of 2017. Garcia and Morales held an assembly at the school in order to deliver an important message: “If you want something bad enough, you will have to work hard to get it.”
“Any time you can have a world champion come speak to your school it’s a huge deal. Our students can relate to the boxers because they come from similar backgrounds. Their stories of putting in the hard work to succeed in their fields, despite their odds are very inspiration to all.
“We would like to thank WBC and especially Mo Noor, WBC World Boxing Cares Board Secretary for making this event possible,” said Val Verde High School Counselor James Macaraeg.
