On the undercard Panamanian WBC champion Jezreel Corrales (21-0, 8 KO’s) fights tough Mexican Robinson “Robin Hood” Castellanos (24-12, 14 KO’s), who had a great return, with a tremendous victory over former three times world champion Yuriorkis Gamboa.
Also, WBC International light heavyweight champion Joe Smith Jr. (23-1, 19 KO’s) will return to the ring to defend his belt against Cuban boxer Sullivan Barrera (19-1, 14 KO’s).
Berchelt, who`s the pride of Merida, will arrive to this match after having a spectacular victory over Mexican warrior, Francisco “Bandido” Vargas in January.
“I accepted this challenge because I want to fight only against the best,” said Miguel Berchelt adding: “I know Miura [Takashi] is a true warrior, but I’m young and hungry for glory, and I’m sure I’ll be back in Mexico with the WBC world championship belt around my waist!”
Miura, who starred the “Fight of the Year 2015” against Vargas, returns after total war with Miguel “Mickey” Román on the very same card during which Berchelt defeated Vargas for winning the crown.
“I`ve wanted to recover my belt ever since the very first minute I lost it in November 2015,” said Takashi Miura. “I know that Berchelt is strong, but nothing will stand in the way of my destiny,” h
Berchelt Vs. Miura is a 12-round bout with the World Boxing Council super-featherweight title at stake; the card is presented by Golden Boy Promotions in partnership with Zanfer Promotions and Teiken Promotions.
