Angelo Hyder and Tony Tolj discuss Team Moloney training camp transition

IT takes more than good chemistry to form a winning team.

In the case of the formidable combination shared by regarded trainer Angelo Hyder and manager Tony Tolj, they have the much needed experience and know-how when it comes to coordinating the finer details of a training camp.

An example of this has taken place in recent months as the pair have managed the training camp transition and interstate move of highly touted twins, Andrew and Jason Moloney, who have moved their training base from Melbourne to Northern New South Wales.

With their first fight under the guidance of Hyder taking place on Saturday night at the Melbourne Park Function Centre for Hosking Promotions, manager Tolj speaks confidently of the twins preparation and overall training experience.

“The twins are happy and that is the most important thing,” said Tolj to Aus-Boxing. “The team have all gelled really well under head-trainer Angelo Hyder as well as Tony Nobbs and Nick Midgley. Hyder has trained several world champions and has been in alot of big-fight corners.”

Furthermore, Tolj heaped praise on the abilities of Hyder, highlighting his experience in big-fight corners, which should prove to be hugely beneficial to his recently acquired pair in future fights.

“He was chief-second in the corner with Craig Christian for the WBA Fighter of the Decade, Chris John on many occasions. I think that Andrew and Jason will benefit from his wealth of experience at an elite level.”

“Angelo trained Danny Green for many of his biggest fights, including the win over Roy Jones Jr, which was one of Australias biggest fights and wins. He also trained Vic Darchinyan for his biggest win in his world title unification against Cristian Mijares.”

Although the Moloney brothers came to Hyder as polished products, having accumulated impressive unbeaten resumes since turning professional in 2014, Hyder believes there is still room for improvement in the coming years. With that said, he admits that the twins have the potential to do great things.

“I have full confidence in them now, but in twelve to eighteen months, it will be scary to think how good they will be,” added Hyder.

“They are good people – combined with their ability and drive – the sky is the limit. They are prepared to do what they need to in order to be the best they can be. It shows me that the twins have traits which are very reminiscent of Chris John, he had dedication, determination and discipline.”

“I haven’t seen these attributes in this country for a very long time, apart from Danny Green. I am very excited for our future.”
