1News has reported that Parker will continue working solely with Higgins throughout the duration of his contract, which runs up until late 2018.
Higgins was understood to be continuing negotiations with Hughie Fury’s team for a September fight.
Parker’s decision was hardly a surprise.
The 25-year-old has a strong personal bond with Higgins that goes well beyond fighter-promoter relationship. Over the course of Parker’s 19-fight tenure with Duco since 2012 the pair have formed a genuine friendship – enjoying each other’s company outside the fight scene.
Lonergan, who is busy promoting Manny Pacquiao’s fight in Brisbane in July, has been based across the Tasman for most of the year.
He was a notable absentee when Parker beat Ravzan Cojanu in Auckland in May.
