Legendary wrestling star “Hijo del Santo” who`s proved himself a worthy heir to the silver mask that his Father initially made so famous, is also one of the icons of WBC Cares, visiting, chatting with and inspiring children who are often battling life threatening illness.
On a sweltering afternoon of November 14, 2007, in Manila, Philippines, Hijo Del Santo won the gold and green honorary belt for the first time in the history of the World Boxing Council. It was in a fight where he fought Japan`s Kamui, winning with well executed vice like locks until he achieved the submission of his opponent.
His name has illuminated up on the marquees of the most famous stages of wrestling and he`s become a distinguished ambassador of the WBC-Cares. A prominent program of our body that among other things, is dedicated to visiting hospitals, orphanages and assistance centers.
For the prestige but even more vital, the kindness, humility and humanity of this extraordinary, popular and talented wrestler, the World Boxing Council is proud to have him as a great emissary of our body. Hijo Del Santo…the Champion of Sharing Caring.
