The calm assured face of Alfredo Caballero is the best answer for those who worry, ponder and wonder about the monumental challenge facing WBC super featherweight champion Miguel Berchelt.

“Alacran” is defending his belt for the first time against formidable former champion and official challenger Takashi Miura on July 15.

“I am happy, but above all calm, although I know that anything can happen in the ring, I am confident that Miguel will be ok. He’s not been affected by fame and popularity, he is still humble, he listens to all advice and understands who gives the orders and establishes the work plan is the coach,” said the already well-known manager of Alacrán.

Caballero stressed Miura is the sole current focus. But it seems things are lining up for future big-fights with another ring stars, like Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko and Gervonta Davis.

“They are southpaw fighters too. God puts us on the road and everything goes together. Now we have this southpaw (Miura) and we are working with lefties, but I think this will serve us very well later if we get a fight with Them (Lomachenko and Davis).

“I have the experience with” Gallo “Estrada, who has faced many southpaws and Juan constantly transmits confidence to Berchelt and to me too. We keep learning about this business.”

Regarding the fight with Miura, according to the coach, Berchelt is already concluding the lion’s share of his sparring, which has not been easy. Firstly because of the difficulty in finding effective southpaws with a style similar to the Japanese power driver. And secondly , because It has become very difficult for them to withstand the intensity of the world champion.

“I do not like to talk a lot and brag about it, but the sparring partners cant handle him.

He achieves very well, everything is fine, he hits like a mule. He is very strong.”

Caballero pointed out that the WBC champion has four sparring partners Sonoran Ivan Álvarez and “Zurdo” Mendoza, as well as the chilango fighter William Cepeda who helped Francico “Bandido” Vargas for his historic duel against Miura in 2015, and Sergio Torres.

As for his weight, he pledged, Berchelt is doing it as he is so disciplined, “Yes, we are already Find . Miguel is going to vindicate all of the sacrifices.”

Regarding Miura and his high ranking, Caballero said that the duel with the Japanese is a consequence of good work:

“That’s what he needed! He overcame Vargas. Now Miura is in our way. I do not like to talk much, but it’s going to be a good fight and Miguel must win it. Miguel must and will be be 100 percent ready.” The fight will be broadcast through HBO and TV Azteca.
