Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao, better known as Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, is taking  a break from his budding political career in the  Philippines to fight Australian Jeff Horn on Saturday at Suncorp Stadium in Queensland, Australia.

Manny was born on December 17, 1978 in a small town called Kibawe, Bukidnon; In 65 bouts he has achieved 57 wins, 6 losses and two draws. He has fought in eight different divisions obtaining six world titles.

Manny began his extraordinary history with the World Boxing Council by winning the OPBF title in 1997 by knocking out Thai Chokchai Chockvivat, which earned him a the shot to contest for the world title.

This came in 1998. Manny was crowned WBC flyweight champion by knocking Thai Chatchai Sasakul. During  his long career he has conquered WBC international championships in the super bantamweight and super featherweight divisions.

In 2002, Pacquiao came to fight in the United States increasing his popularity worldwide to become a phenomenon in his country, where he has millions of avid supporters.

Among the boxers he has defeated are:  Agapito Sánchez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Márquez, against whom he won the WBC super featherweight title, David Diaz, whom he defeated to win the WBC lightweight title, Erik Morales, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto , with  whom he won the WBC Diamond belt, Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito, with whom he won the WBC super welterweight title and Oscar de la Hoya.

His  triumphs against Mexican boxers gained a lot of attention. He was even dubbed  “The Mexicans Devourer.”

“Pacman” is already a legendary boxer who is now embarking upon a dazzling political career. He’s a  basketball player, as well as venturing  into acting and singing.  His charisma is admired globally, but also his humility, faith and dignity.

The WBC and its President  Mauricio Sulaiman wish Manny  success in the upcoming defense of his WBO belt, as well as Top Rank, who is the promoter of this attractive card in Australia.
