MALAYSIAN BOXERS SHOW A LOT OF PROMISE IN WBC MALAYSIA BOXRANX SLUGFEST

MALAYSIAN boxers showed a lot of promise in their pro debut during the inaugural presentation of the WBC Boxing Malaysia and BoxRanx held July 9 at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
Former Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Theena Thayalan scored the quickest victory in just 25 seconds by knocking out Indonesian Yudi Alap-alap in their welterweight bout.
The 19-year old Thayalan of Vladimir Boxing Gym landed two left-right body shots to send down Alap-alap on the canvas.
Welterweight Keng Fei Hui, featherweight Muhammad Sheran Bin Abdullah, cruiserweight Stephen Onn and super bantamweight Gerald Salvador also all made their presence felt by pummeling to submission their separate rivals.
The 23-year old Keng used his stinging jabs in stopping a hard-fighting Sam Chan via a technical knockout in 2:58 of the 3rd round.
Muhammad Sheran stopped Ahmad Amirlfadzli by a TKO in 1;20 of the first round while Onn bombarded a never-say-die Mohd Hanafi Bin Fairuz with body shots and booming hooks to force referee Ferdie Estrella to stop the exciting match in 2:42 of the third round.
“I don’t want the boxer to be hurt more,” said Estrella.
Salvador,a son of a Filipino couple in Malaysia, displayed his boxing skills and powerful punches to knock down Lesley Dulamit in 1:40 of the second round.
In the other bouts, Syafi Hazziman of Sarawak defeated Indonesian Abdul Rauf while Daeloniel Mcdelon crushed Jackson Lee both by unanimous decisions.
Former URCC MMA fighter William “The Kill” Chope of the United States used his reach advantage to force Indonesian Alfred Leko in 2:12 of the second round.
Black American super featherweiht Jonathan Clemons scored a knockdown in the opening round to win by a split decision against Eddey “The Clown” Kalai.
The main event saw Carlo “The Ferocious” Magali of the Philippines stopped previously unbeaten Sandeep Balhara of India in the 10th round to bring home the WBC OPBF Silver featherweight title
OPBF president Juan Ramon Guanzon congratulated the organizing WBC Boxing Malaysia and BoxRanx headed by its president Raymond Lew for successfully staging the event.
Guanzon, who supervised the event also formally turned over the official OPBF By-Laws and Regulations.
“For a newcomer, WBC Boxing Malaysia did a really good job. Congratulations to them!,” said Guanzon
Aside from WBC Boxin Malaysia vice-president AK Salvador, also present were Prime Minister Najib Razak’s son Mohd Nazifuddin Najib and Isuzu Malaysia executive directors Hajime Machimura and Mikio Tsukui.
The historic event was the first WBC event held after 42 years in Malaysia.
“We’re planning to have more pro boxing events here in Malaysia,” said Lew.
