Esmeralda “Joya” Moreno is eagerly awaiting the confirmation date of the Flyweight Grand Final of the WBC Diamond tournament, in which she`ll take on Yessica “Kika” Chavez.
The winner of the bout will become the third fighter in history to achieve that honor. Previous Diamondettes are: Ana Maria Torres and Ava Knight.
“I am already anxious to know the date of the fight, as it`ll hallmark and define my career forever. Accordingly we`re training so hard because opportunities like this only happen once in a lifetime and we must take full advantage of it. My promoters told me the fight will be in August, so we have to be totally ready.
“The clash will be also a duel of strategies between Ignacio Beristain and my trainer, Victor “Vaquero” Diaz. I know, understand and appreciate that there will always be a lot of talk about Don Nacho Beristain, for what he has achieved over many years and for all those who have made world champions. He is deservedly part of the Hall of Fame, but inside the ring that does not count.
A coach/manager can tell you many things and teach you many things. But if you do not do things at the right time and in the right way, you just won`t get anywhere.
“I` ve always had the confidence of a manager and a friend like” El Vaquero.” We`re a team and we totally understand each other, even by eye contact. He knows me and he has always known how to guide me on to exactly the right path. He`s already helped me to become world champion twice. Now… we`re going for the Diamond title! A dream not only for me but for my manager as well. So we`re definitely going to win that title because… we deserve it!”
