UFC flyweight contender Jussier Formiga will take on Ulka Sasaki on September 23rd, at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan.
Flyweight submission specialists Jussier Formiga and Ulka Sasaki have been added to the upcoming UFC Fight Night 117 card at the legendary Saitama Super Arena in Japan, as confirmed by UFC officials on its event page.
Jussier Formiga (19-5) comes into the fight with a unanimous decision win over Dustin Ortizsandwiched between decision losses to Henry Cejudo and Ray Borg, of which the latter occurred in his last outing. Formiga hasn’t been able to put together a win streak since 2014-15, when he had a three-fight stretch of victories over Scott Jorgensen, Zach Makovsky, andWilson Reis.
Ulka Sasaki (20-4-2) is still trying to put together his first ever UFC win streak since his debut in 2014. The Japanese fighter did lose to Wilson Reis at UFC 208 in February, but rebounded with a dramatic rally and submission win over Justin Scoggins at UFC Singapore in June. Sasaki dropped down to flyweight after losing his first two UFC bouts at bantamweight.
UFC Fihgt Night 117 will be headlined by a rematch between light heavyweights Mauricio Ruaand Ovince Saint Preux. The main card will air live on Fox Sports 1 on Friday, September 22nd (Saturday, September 23rd in Japan).
