Charismatic WBC super bantamweight world champion, Hugo Ruiz, will be defending his belt on September 16 against the Japans’s former world champion, Hozumi Hasegawa, at the Edion Arena in Osaka. The bout will be broadcast by Televisa Deportes to all Mexico.
During a phone interview, “Cuatito” shared his impressions of this tough commitment,commenting : “ Everything is going very well with the help of my father and brothers. Next week my team work will include the team of Rafael Guzman to initiate the strength stage of my training camp. I’m aware it is very difficult to win in 12 rounds so we definitely wont peculate”.
Hugo Ruiz acknowledges Hasegawa was a great champion, but he claims this is his time and he needs to punch as well,as clock punctually.
The fighter form Los Mochis conquered the title after knocking out his compatriot, Julio Ceja, in just one round. This will be the first defense of his belt against a rival that has defeated 9 Mexicans.
“Cuatito”, who is represented by Promociones del Pueblo and Sampson Boxing Promotions, will try to emulate Fernando Montiel and Johnny Gonzalez, who defeated Hasegawa in Japan conquer the WBC title.
