JORGE BARRERA OUTLINES THE UNFORTUNATE ACCIDENT OF ANDRES GUTIERREZ

At the weekly WBC Press Conference, the Trainer of Andres  Gutierrez explained in detail the terrible accident “Jaguar” suffered, directly and inevitably leading  to the cancellation of his July 29 WBC  featherweight final eliminator against Carl Frampton in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Coach Jorge Barrera explained that this awful  misfortune happened,  after the official weigh in ceremony, which  Andrés successfully passed, unlike his rival.

The fighter from Queretaro then took a shower where he slipped dramatically, crashing down, splitting open his chin, deeply gashing nose and breaking two teeth. The boxer was immediately taken to hospital for an urgent examination where medical experts confirmed to the whole team,  that it would certainly not be possible for him to fight, as it would have placed his health in danger.

Still very concerned for Andres, a disappointment, Barrera sincerely thanked the  support, concern, compassion and understanding of Carl Frampton and his team, as well as the public who showed great understanding and sympathy.

Jorge commented that it is possible that this fight can be rescheduled at the end of the year, but only if Andres recovers favorably.
