Considering he was held to a draw on his debut, it would have been understandable if Vladimir Belujsky [0-0-1] was handed a succession of confidence boosting fights.

Instead, the complete opposite has occurred, and the Cork super middleweight has jumped straight back in with a big fight.

Belujsky drew with tough journeyman Anthony Fox in his debut in London back in March, and will return to the ring looking to make amends in October.

‘The Slovak Rebel’ fights on the Red Corner Promotions ‘Champions Elect’ bill at the National Stadium in Dublin on October 7th where he will face debutant Manny Bique over four rounds.

The intriguing battle pits Slovakian-born Belujsky up against highly-rated Dublin-based Dominican Bique in a potentially show-stealing clash.

A difficult-to-call fight, it is exactly what Mitchelstown’s Belujsky wanted.

The Assassin Promotions boxer outlined how “I want the big fights. I know how good I am, added to that my work ethic, I know how far I can go in the sport. I don’t want to waste any time.”

“It’s a tough opponent. He has a good reputation and a good amateur pedigree. I am delighted that I can be in a fight that will excite the fans.”

Belujsky has been burrowed away, deep in training, since his debut, and feels well-equipped to beat Bique. He described how “I have been in with tough opponents who have put up good fights with people like Lerrone Richard and Craig Cunningham who beat Anthony Ogogo.”

“I feel I have a good pro style, and I have been mixing with the likes of ‘Spike’, the McDonagh brothers, and even constantly being around Mike Perez in the gym. I am fully equipped to go far in this sport.”

Belujsky’s manager Kaz Evans added that “Vladimir is one of the most dedicated boxers I have worked with. He is not in boxing for easy fights, and relishes 50/50 fights. Despite being young, he wants to be fast tracked, and with names such as Manny Bique, he will definitely gain the respect.”

The ‘Champions Elect’ card also features Irish champion Paddy McDonagh, debutant Karl Kelly, Jake Best, the return of Allan Phelan, Victor Rabei, a BUI Celtic super middleweight title scrap between Chris Blaney and Matiouze Royer, a BUI Celtic light middleweight title clash between Dublin’s Craig O’Brien and former Welsh champion Lee Churcher, and is headlined by a BUI Celtic welterweight title fight between Noely Murphy and Shortty Carroll.

Tickets cost €40 (general) and €60 (ringside) and are available from the boxers involved on the bill.
