Nick Newell is returning to the cage.
The former World Series of Fighting star has ended a two-year retirement and signed with Legacy Fighting Alliance, the company announced on Monday.
Newell earned early notice in his mixed martial arts career due to the fact he is a congenital amputee, as his left arm ends just below his elbow. However, Newell continued earning headlines simply due to the fact he proved to be a talented fighter.
He retired with a 13-1 mark, 5-1 in WSOF. Newell’s only career defeat was a second-round TKO loss to Justin Gaethje, who is still undefeated, in 2014.
Newell retired following a decision victory over Tom Marcellino at WSOF 24 on Oct. 17, 2015.
Newell’s first fight date and opponent under the LFA banner will be determined at a later date.
