World Boxing Council heavyweight World Champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder defends his crown against former world champion Luis “King Kong” Ortiz on Nov. 4 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Champion Wilder participated in a busy and bustling press conference at the “Dream Hotel Downtown PHD Rooftop” in New York City to kick off the promotion of his World title bout against the Cuban. Ortiz did not attend, but Wilder was accompanied by Lou Dibella, President of DiBella Entertainment, and Stephen Espinoza, Executive Vice President of Showtime.
“I’m excited that it’s time to face Luis Ortiz. I am the division’s puncher and Ortiz is considered a hard tough fighter, so getting us both together in the ring will result in one of the best heavyweight fights. I promise you that I will unify the division and any heavyweight who gets in my way, I’m going to knock him out, “Wilder said.
This interesting clash will mark a welcome Wilder return. Deontay has a pristine record of 38-0, 37 KOs, and five successful defenses of his belt that he won in January 2015, when he overcame Bermane Stiverne on points. Ortiz, meanwhile, will reach this commitment with an unblemished record of 27-0, 23 knockouts.
