Promising and talented Hinata Maruta won the WBC youth bantamweight title at the Sumiyoshi Center in Osaka, with a 6th round TKO over more experienced Filipino fighter Wilbert Berondo.
Maruta who’s notched two KO’s in his three winning fights as a pro, was rated #29 in the WBC rankings, before this fight.
Pencil slim taller than Berondo (10-4, 4KO’s) Maruta intelligently used his height and reach advantages, to outbox his rival, and was ahead 40-36 on all three Judges’ announced cards, after three rounds.
In the sixth Maruta found the mark with a crunching right to the ribcage of Berondo, who sank to one knee and was counted out.
