An important flyweight is close to being finalized for the UFC 218.
Henry Cejudo (11-2) vs. Sergio Pettis (16-2) is targeted for the Dec. 2 event, MMA Fighting has learned. The 125-pound contenders were originally scheduled to fight at UFC 211 in May, however, Cejudo was forced to withdraw from the fight just days before due to an injured hand.
Since then, both fighters have picked up impressive wins: Pettis over Brandon Moreno and Cejudo over Wilson Reis.
UFC 218 is set to take place at the new Little Ceasers Arena in Detroit. The promotion has yet to announce a main event for the card, however, Max Holloway vs. Frankie Edgar for the featherweight title is the current front-runner to headline the UFC’s return to Michigan.
